Semester Reflection

3D art Mountain Castle

This semester I learned many new concepts. I learned how to use Mudbox more effectively to sculpt my custom textures maps. I also refined how fluid dynamics look for different types of bodies of water. I learned how to create rain particles and different types of fields.   Now that the semester is over, I’m going to spend time going over more tutorials learning how to use particles to create all sorts of VFX.

Mountain Castle – Update #1

3d Castle on Top of a Mountain – Progress 2-7

I’ve spent the first week modeling out the basic form for my mountain and castle. I made sure that every poly face was as equal as possible to avoid distortion. Now that all of that is done, I’m going to export each model piece as an OBJ, and bring it into Mudbox to start sculpting the fine detail.

It’s winter break and I’m finally given the time to work on my personal projects. Since my personal work is analogous to my professional work, there won’t be much of a difference from before. The type of work will be exactly the same, but the location and project will be what I want to do.   This next project, which is already well started, is a Mad Scientist Lair. Sewer – Complete

3d Sewer – Modeled by Marc Zirin

Lighting and texturing is finished. I’m just tweaking the lights as I see the change. I’ve been working on the water effects in the Sewer. I have the main water down and mostly the water spout and leaking pipes. I animated a few scurrying rats and cockroaches. I feel they will really add to the scene.   Here is the render of my Sewer:
